In all honesty, I am trying very hard not to start this post with the classic line ” it’s the most wonderful time of the year”.
Christmas has come and gone and the New Year is coming closer each day. But, before we bid farewell to a very challenging year,I want to linger on Christmas time a little bit more. Pretend that Christmas is not almost over and that I still have time to enjoy such a precious holidays.
Decorating the Christmas tree was a success this year. My mother has a tendency to change the decoration of the tree with something she sees on Pinterest and most of the times it does not look as good, but this time she did it nicely. Our Christmas tree looks like taken out of Pinterest picture , with flowers and white ornaments and red touches here and there that, surprisingly, blend beautifully with the green of the tree.
I am happy that Christmas time was spent one day with family and the other with friends. My friends and I had a small get together at my place where we had food and wine and yummy dessert. We also had each other and for the first time after a very long time we started pouring our hearts out and literally sharing every feeling with each other. We had so many things to talk about, so many things to analyse and reach a conclusion that I realized that even though we were talking approximately every day with each other, we had to be face to face to whine and spill our guts about life, people, the weather, the circumstances, the fact we are closer and closer to another year.
Personally, I believe that you can really get in the mood and feel the Christmas spirit, when you are surrounded by lights, a Christmas tree and people who love you despite every flaw. Christmas and the people you love are two things that go together around this time of the year and it’s a shame that not many people have the luck to have that.
I don’t want to spoil your mood with sad facts about lonely people. I wish that loneliness didn’t even exist, because I have felt it and it is horrendous. A feeling so shallow I wish to have never experience. May we always be surrounded by people who love us, people we accept us, people who we feel are our world, who without them we feel alone.
May we always have someone special in our lives. And if we don’t,may we find that person soon and make sure it knows we have been waiting for it.
So, even with a small delay Merry Christmas to all of you and a happy New Year!!
