Are You Staying Home?

#Μένουμε σπίτι, #Stay Home, #Evdekal ….

The slogan that urges everyone to stay in their homes because of the pandemia has turned into a worldwide phenomenon that has taken effect through every known social media.

I never thought that in the year 2020 a pandemia would struck, making every single country in the world close their borders so we don’t have any contact with each other.

I never thought that in the year 2020 people would be forced by law to stay inside their home with little to none contact with each other.

I never thought that in the year 2020 I would be afraid to even ride somewhere with the train or subway.

Many years ago people believed that by 2020 we would be riding cars in the air, we would be living in other planets and have made all other unbelievable inventions that would have made this world better.

Apparently, we are not even capable of that. We drove earth to its limits, we stepped over its boundaries thinking we are smarter only to be sick and dying in fast paces.

We are the people who scream about respect to each other, yet we don’t even respect the place we live in. It’s sad for the advanced year we live in to not be able to effectively fight this virus and be acting so reclessly.

I live in Greece, one of the countries that has been affected, of course, but not as bad as Spain or Italy. Our government has taken measures trying to protect as many people as possible, although they are not very effective and that’s due to the fact most people don’t seem to understand that this is a worldwide crisis.

It’s understandable not to be able to comprehend that you have to stay home, locked in, for a long amount of time without knowing when this virus is going to go away and be safe for us to go out again. However, when you see so many people begging you to do it, when you see politicians taking extreme measures to keep you inside the house, when you see what happens in other countries that don’t obey – you have to at least try to limit your walks around town.

I started working from home, which is ideal for some people but when you are locked in for all day you feel kind of trapped. The only outing I get is with a small walk by the beach once every week – and that not consistenly.

We go through hard times, as we all see around us, it’s not easy to handle it and this situation has turned us into a bit antisocial. I get it and as psychologists say it’s understandable, but imagine the time when we return to our routine. Able to go out and be ‘free’ again. We have to be patient and for the most part stay home.

Don’t forget that we are all in this together. You are not the only one having to be restricted.

This should be the perfect opportunity for you to get in touch with yourself. You don’t have to be closed to yourself, but this is a good idea to figure out what things you want, you like, you wish to do. Get to know you, so when the time comes for you to be sociable again you know the kind of people that fit you and your personality in particular.

Through social media these days you can stay in touch with your friends and family, or you can even make new friends that go through the same thing you do.

Take this opportunity to start new hobbies, explore your house and you mind. You will be amazed with what you are going to find out when you are not obligated to go out and be the person you have created for the world to see.
