Fill your life with adventures not stuff.
Possibly one of the most worthwhile quotes I have seen on the internet.
All people, including myself, think that by buying stuff, by filling our material needs, suddenly we are living our lives. That is so far from the truth. In reality, near the end of your life all you think about is all the people you’ve met, all the places you’ve been, all the spectacular sunsets you had the opportunity to witness. If you had that opportunity.
It’s one of my deepest fears. When I am old and unable to move I want to be able to go back in time with my mind, dig into my memories and re-live all the moments I spent appreciating nature’s beauty. I want to be that person. The person who filled her life with countless adventures and saw everything or at least almost everything.
Enough deep-thinking-chit-chat. This post is dedicated to my latest experience which was the drive-in cinema I visited a few nights ago. Definetely made my summer worth it. Obviously, this is not something that has just appeared around the world as we all know. It’s nothing new. On the contrary, America was the one that basicaly made this a ‘thing’ and a marvellous idea for a first date. When a guy wants to make a move or impress a girl with a then the drive-in cinema is the best option.

Obviously, I have never been to one. The entire experience really made me think I was somewhere else and not in Greece, seeing as in Greece we love our indoor cinemas (although I don’t know how much of a good idea it can be now with the pandemic), and to be honest we don’t really have a variety of drive-in cinemas.
The one I visited was ‘taking place’ in Oaka stadium, more specifically at one of its large parking places. It was so well put together for my first contact with the whole situation going on there, that I was sort of surprised by how coordinated the staff was. Sort of. From the waitress that went around wearing roller skates (decorated with purple led lights because she was that cool) to the guy who handed each car a little battery lamp to notify the waitress if we needed anything to eat or drink.

We saw Kill Bill, which is not exactly the ideal movie to see at a drive-in cinema for a date in general, but I appreciated the experience with the movie included. There was this grand white fabric just like in a cinema and a large space with chairs in safe distance for those who wanted to get out of their cars. Not many people chose to leave the comfort of their cars, also there is a pandemic over our heads so I think that was the best choice, most people wanted to live the drive in experience.
The feeling of just sitting in your car, throwing your seat back and watching the movie outside is marvellous. At the same time, the most interesting thing before the movie starting was the sunset. So peaceful and beautiful. A one of a kind experience I will definetely cherish.

Even though I love the comfort of my own home, I also love and appreciate a nice view and especially a beautiful sunset. The end of the day when the sun is slowly disappearing to give its place to the moon is very poetic and the colors in the sky truly make you feel like even for a moment things are alrigh in the world.
It is important to mention how well prepared the staff was, with masks and cleaning gels for the hands, they took all the necessary precautions to care for the people that were there. It’s highly important for all of us to take the necessary measures to protect ourselves and the people around us, the virus is still here more threatening than ever.
However, no matter how tough things get and how many restrictions we face as people with this pandemic it’s nice to see that we are able to still experience some life changing moments.
For me, to still be able to add things to my bucket list is truly a blessing.
If you’ve never been to a drive-in cinema, with the pandemic it’s something that I believe will make people choose it given the fact that it guarantees distance between people. Do not miss a chance to watch a movie from you car. It’s one of a kind.
