The Basic Of A Workout Wardrobe

Generation Z (my generation) is consisted from the type of people that are torn between food and working out.

As much as we love being fit and looking our very best at the beach, we are also very much in love with the food, therefore we are always fighting with ourselves and trying to find the motivation to work out.

However, working out is not an easy or irrelevant subject, especially when it comes to such a wide industry like fashion. Sportswear is a very large and rich aspect of fashion – an industry by itself that plays a fundamental part in bringing in good money- that has many accomplished companies/brands that are focused on creating and launching not only functional sportswear, but pretty as well.

When I first started kick boxing all I had was a pair of old leggings and an old worn out t-shirt. I had no idea how large the sportwear industry is and how many choices you have or how many basic pieces you need to own, just so you can workout at your very best. That’s why I figured that are probably many people there that don’t know what kind of pieces their workout wardrobe need to have, but don’t worry.. I got you covered!

I browsed through the internet and virtually visited all my favourite shops (MyProtein, Adidas, Nike and occasionaly H&M) that Iusually buy all my workout gear from and I have gathered a few options for you. The options are based ont he pieces that should have a place in your closet.

Let’s dive in together!

  • #1 – The Leggings

Probably the most important piece that you should own. These days most girls own a pair whether from their time at school or because they are so comfortable that are great for chilling inside your house, so they are also used as a form of homewear. Ideally, you should choose a legging pair that is a bit tight and hugs your curves. I like dry-fit kinds and the ones that are high-waisted, mainly because when I am working on my legs I don’t want my leggings to be dropping down my bum everytime I do a squat.
There are multiple choices when it comes to color and length, but if you are not feeling comofrtable with that much attention to your body (because bright colors and patterns attract attention and can easily catch the eye) then you should opt for a classic monochrome leggings that is made from the right, tight materials to make you feel your best while working out.

  • #2 – The Sports Bra

Trust me when I say that sports bra is a gift to women when it comes to sportwear. Simple, classic bras are unaffective when it comes to sweating and holding your breasts in place when you have to do lunges and mountain climbs. You need a sportsbra that is perfectly made for that reason. I choose the ones that have a rubber under my breasts that is very secure. Just like in leggings you will be able to find various colors and forms here, others look like bras and others like a crop top. I choose the ones that resemble a top because I like the security they give me and it’s so needed in the ring.

  • #3 – The Pants

From the other side of women who like leggings, we also have the women who prefer something that is not bringing that much attention to their legs and figure in general. Trousers or pants made for running are made for that purpose and are actually very handy and comfortable when it comes to working out outdoors. They don’t stick on your legs and when you are taking them off they are not coming off like glue, like most leggings do, because they hug the legs tightly.

  • #4 – The Jackets

If you’re one of those people who like working out outdoors even during wintertime, thn you need to have a pair of sporty jacket in your wardrobe. Especially made to keep you warm and don’t let the wind break into the jacket thus making you cold and unable to take a breath and complete your workout. Some have a hole in order for your thumb to go through the hole and assist you into not letting the sleeve slide during workout. So functional and so necessary for your winter time workout!

  • #5 – The Tank top

Let’s say you are wearing your sports bra, but you are not yet feeling comfortable to only wear that while working out, never worry. There are so many sleeveless or with long sleeves tank tops that are made from very thin materials that make them perfect for you. They don’t stick to your skin wheen you workout which is a huge deal for every person who wants to workout seriously and sweat.

  • #6 – The Shoes

The right pair of shoes. People say that a woman wearing the right pair of shoes can rule the world, imagine if that same woman also wore the right pair of athletic shoes, then she could have the brains and the body to make the world bow to her feet. The right pair can help you run long distance thus working out your entire body, which is the thing we want when in or out of the gym. Also, by choosing the right pair of athletic shoes (some have gel in them, others have foam and such) you will provide to your feet the right amount of air and shelter to be able to walk out and exercise as well.

In conclusion, you don’t have to spend a fortune on creating the perfect range of clothes for your workout. The items above are an example of what you should have in your closet if you feel like starting this year with a new revelation that requires strengthening your body. Don’t be afraid to get into workouts that are bound to make you sweaty, but also feel so good about yourself after.

I should mention that every fashion item above is available online at every store’s online shop and are not commercialy used. I simply am sharing with you some pieces I would have bought, but also it’s a way to give you an idea of what exactly you need in your closet right now.

Remember, it’s never too late to change the way you live! New revelations are always appropriate for the entering month of a new year!

Speaking of which… HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!
