We are used to seeing crossovers in tv series, but are you used to seeing crossovers in fashion?

Fashion is an industry that loves creation and imagination. It’s basically art in clothes. Those two ingredients are crucial for every artist, but also for every admirer of fashion. The latest creation? The Shacket.

It is exactly what it sounds like. A very imaginative crossover between the classic shirt and a jacket.

This latest coat-like creation is a new idea and style opinion for every casual chic young woman who wants a more casual meets the chic side of fashion kind of outfit. It’s thicker than a shirt and thinner than a jacket, it’s exactly the inbetween overcoat that you need for a typical stroll to the stores or for a coffee break with your friends.

The shacket is bound to become your latest obsession.

Shackets took the ready-to-wear brands by storm. Since the very first days of the beginning of the new season we truly witnessed some very beautiful and stylish ideas launched by brands like Only and Zara. Most of them were paired with casual high-waist jeans and a t-shirt to make a nice cosy-meets-modern outfit.

The last days of October and the beginning of November, where fall season is at its very finest, shackets are your companion. They are the perfect mix of overcoat you need to go out with. They do remind you something of a more 90s type of year, but I assure you it’s the latest trend that has the entire fashion world in a frenzy.

It’s pretty obvious that this trend has remnants of a more 90s season time. The oversized element in combination with the most common pattern of all, the checked, is pretty much a clear proof that this trend came over from the 90s. Fashion moves in circles anyway. Things that were once in fashion are bound to come up again in a more modern version.

Checked shirts were mostly worn in a different time by men. They were styled to remind us a more casual and laid back guy, but nowadays that we are trying to break all those stereotypes there is not a single clothing piece that’s not accepted by both genders. People are rejecting stereotypes in fashion, one of the most basic and influential industries of the planet.

The How-To

One of the most beneficial things about a shacket is that it comes in oversized fit, long fit, cropped fit and so on. There are so many different options that you can buy one of each kind and create your ideal outfit plain and simple, you just have to be smart about it.

I know that when a new trend comes along we are all scrolling in a frenzy to be inspired. You need to remember that each person has a very different opinion and style when it comes to dressing up. However, there is a general rule about shackets that might be easier for you to follow.

Do not overdo it!

It’s a simple and understanding rule. Minimal is key in fashion. Try to style up your shacket with a pair of mom fit jeans or straight fit if you’ve made a purchase of an oversized shacket. Dare to wear it with your hoodie or better yet with a slim turtleneck to create a modern contrast.

For inspiration purposes I have mad a mood board for you. You will notice that most women wear the shacket with something more fit on the inside, but a nice hoodie or a sweater is a always a yes. If you are living in a country with mostly nice weather, dare to pair it with a t-shirt dress or a summer blouse.

Trends may be set to follow, but I believe that they are an opportunity to be creative and show off our imagination and style. Dare to wear what pleases your eye and not somebody else’s. Others will follow along.
