Cargo pants are the epitome of 90s fashion.
Their most common use of the pants in the beginning was from fishermen before the fashion industry decided to draw inspiration off them, or when talking during the 90s, from band members with an edgy style and rock aesthetic. Nowadays, the cargo pants are slowly becoming the new IT item for your wardrobe! With their unique design – their statement large side pockets – they can make a difference on an outfit and create a very stylish casual look.
Most people are a bit hesitant to buy them and style them up, mainly because trying to find the right top is a bit tricky, but I’m here and I’ve done my research well on that part. With main inspiration being street style looks, I’ve found some very interesting outfit ideas that cargo pants are the main leads of them. I’m sure you’re going to be as inspired by the looks as I was!
The White T-Shirt
You can’t buy cargo pants and not pay tribute to the 90s aesthetic that this pair of pants gave life to. The classic, timeless, irresistible white t-shirt and all its cuts is here to help you create the most casual outfit of all, one that it’s so easy to put together because you will most definitely already have it in your closet. With stamp or not, the white t-shirt will be the perfect match for your cargo pants for a stroll in the city to a casual night out. Find the right inspiration below:

The Bodysuit
Comfortable and chic in a sensual way, the bodysuit is the new top that’s going to accompany many of your bottom choices. I can’t really remember if I saw it on the Kardashians first or not, but cargo pants and a pair of monochrome bodysuits is the new ideal outfit for a night out in the city. You want to be the ultimate casual chic? Here you have it:

The Corset Top
Corset tops became a modern way to pay tribute to the Middle Century fashion, back when corsets where a woman’s necessary clothing piece. Although, they once were a very restrictive piece for women that basically deformed them and then reform them into what was considered a desirable body, they are now worn in a totally different way. Corset tops are worn a lot loosely than before, in cut out forms and shapes that mainly concentrate on making the bust bigger. Big clothing lines have made collections based on them and the results were amazing. Here is some inspiration to wear them with your cargo pants:

The Statement Shirt
A shirt is always a good idea when you feel like going from casual to chic in matter of minutes. We’re so used to wearing shirts with chino pants for the perfect or better yet, the most appropriate office style, but now shirts are the key to tone down the edginess of the pants. It would be a lie to tell you that cargo pants (in the right material and fit) can’t be worn at the office, but it’s a bit trickier to find cargo pants in the right fabric that won’t make you look like you rushed to get to work and didn’t dress smart enough. Nothing is impossible in fashion though, so don’t be afraid to experiment a bit. Smart in fashion can be translated in many ways and languages. Following is some inspiration where cargo pants married shirts:

You can go wrong and you can go right when it comes to styling up a statement piece like cargo pants. The pockets on the side give the body enough volume as it is, that’s why most stylist (and women in general) choose more fitted tops to match in order to make their body more sculptured. Color combinations depend on the palette you wish to choose, from pastels to more vibrant colors, it’s up to you and up to your personality.
Cargo pants are set to become this falls’ trendy piece and fast fashion brands are already working on presenting them to the public through influencers, campaigns, new collection reveals and so on. Trust me, this season will be all about comfort and how it can serve the fashion industry starting from mom fit jeans and cargo pants. Are you ready for it?
