Although neutrals are usually the way to go when one wants to dress herself, I find myself loving the sudden bursts of color here and there. According to color psychology, neutrals and earthly tones offer calmness and stability in a person. A burst of color, though, offers happiness and excitement. I am putting it all very simply in words now, but you get the idea.
In the process of re-doing my wardrobe, I found out that I have a few items that are a bit more vibrant than what I have been used to. Admittedly, I am a dress-in-black kind of girl, but how could I ever refuse a fuchsia shirt on a pair of black leather pants or better yet, a yellow t-shirt on a pair of classic jeans? Can you say no? Of course, not.
Wondering what and how bold hues can transform your outfit? Check out below:
1) Patterned Shirts
Patterned shirts are like a cheat code for outfits. When in doubt, when one wants to make a statement or simply put on a shirt, a pair of pants and get out of the house when in hurry – a patterned shirt is the solution. There is a large variety of them, since this cheat code is widely known, from more expensive brands to the most affordable fast fashion one. See some of my choices:
2) Colorful T-shirts
Do you remember the all time classic advice, when one piece of clothing looks good on you then buy it in multiple colors? Well, when it comes to t-shirts this is actually quite valuable. A classic black and white t-shirt can take you a long way, but a colorful one can elevate your look. From a vibrant yellow to a fluo orange, I know the choice might seem tricky at first, but wait until you see it with a classic pair of jeans or black wide-leg pair of pants.
3)Not Your Typical Coat
A classic camel or gray coat is hanging in all of our closets. Don’t deny it, I know it’s true. But, have you ever considered indulging yourself and buy a magenta one? Or a royal blue one? Truthfully, I haven’t indulged myself just yet, which is something I am deeply regretting, but I will soon. Hopefully, before this year ends.
Trends are meant to be used as inspiration, therefore it’s best if you take parts of them and incorporate them in your outfits. Remember, your outfits are supposed to make you feel good and confident when wearing them, not become a blind representation of a stylist’s choice. Put a piece of yourself in them, use them as a way to lift your spirits.
