The Issues Of Modern Dating

I am taking this category a step further and with great courage I am here to write an issue that concerns us all.

No, it’s not about politics or world hunger (although these are much bigger issues troubling our world), but it’s something lighter and equally important to all.

I’ve been playing around with my identity these days, picturing myself as a modern Carrie Bradshaw and done a small research on modern days dating. My findings are a bit worrying, but I like to believe that there is always hope. Don’t you?

Modern dating has evolved to the point that most people come together through social media. A simple comment, now, seems enough to start a spark and a relationship that will either last for a few months or a lifetime. It sure is easier to meet people through apps and online dating, but the plain old getting to know the other face to face or from common friends where you can learn some key parts about the person will always be appealing to me. Somehow the informations our friends were able to give us were replaced by social informations the person has put online.

We can’t exactly ignore how easier that makes our lives, but don’t we all want to see the guy face to face and have a decent conversation than texting all day long or having a long distance relationship with someone we’ve never seen up close? Internet still hides plenty of dangers.

However, I was mostly concetrated on the way men approach women these days. They don’t. I was very sad to know that while men seem to be rather bold when it comes to texting and make plenty of promises through words, they always seem to be more hesitant and shy around women. Thus, most women decide to take matters in their own hands and make the first, second and third move.

The women have become the hunters.
That would seem okay when it comes to working, but dating should be a bit classic and a tad romantic. Although, most women are now taking the power back and conquer their desires and fears, they still want a strong man by their side. Who else would be able to handle them, anyway?

Men, however, in all ages go for the easy ones and avoid forming a decent relationship. Is there a reason for it? Maybe it’s the fear of commitment or the fear that they are going to get hurt. Men these days opt for casual hook ups and one-night-stands more, they don’t take the risk of being into a relationship anymore.

Is it the women’s fault for being too powerful? Is it because men don’t feel like giving up their freedom? Is single life that much better than being into a relationship?

Well, with my Carrie Bradshaw mood on I believe I will find the answer to all those questions.

Until then, tell me what do you think? Are men more shy than women these days? What seems a lot better in modern days dating?

I am eager to know what you think!
